Volunteer Spotlight – Reg
Reg has been volunteering at the AIU for over ten years and has had over 400 scans as a volunteer. Reg loves coming to the AIU and finds being able to be a part of the students learning experience, very rewarding.
Reg is now retired but was once a grocers assistant before joining the army, which was then followed by a long career as a taxi driver during which he covered over 6 million kilometres. At 83, Reg is still actively involved as a volunteer at the AIU and credits the team for detecting health issues during his routine scans.
Although the AIU is a teaching facility rather than a formal diagnostic service, we do offer our volunteers the option send a letter to their doctor when we see something of concern. Reg says “I certainly believe in ultrasound. It’s saved my life twice by detecting problems early on, so I’m very grateful for the incredible team at the AIU.”
